CCC leadership crisis: Olatosho’s declaration, act of rebellion –Oshoffas
0The leadership crisis rocking the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) worldwide took a new dimension yesterday, as the family memebers of the late founder of the church, Rev. Samuel Bilehou Oshoffa, distanced themselves from the declaration of Rev. Mathew Olatoso Oshoffa as the new leader of the church, describing his declaration as an act of rebellion.Rev. Olatoso Oshoffa had recently declared that he was the unification leader of the church, saying God ordained his emergence.
Speaking at a press conference held in the premises of the founder in Ketu, Lagos and attended by three wives of the late Oshoffa, the spokesman of the Oshoffa dynasty, Senior Evangelist Ebenezer Oshoffa, said Olatoso was on his own because the family could not come to terms with the declaration and did not support his leadership of the church.
His words: “The family has always avoided public interference in the affairs of the church, the Celestial Church of Christ founded by our dear late father, but it has become imperative and as a matter of urgency for us to speak out as a family because of the recent development in the leadership tussle of the church, which unfortunately is personal to us because our son and brother, Senior Evangelist Olotosho Oshoffa, is involved.”
Senior Evangelist Oshoffa explained that though the genesis of the problem could be related to events unfolding after the recent court judgment of March, saying the crisis had been grossly mismanaged.
He said: “Some unscrupulous, self-centered elders of the church, who found an avenue for vendetta, installed Olotosho Oshoffa with a lot of unwarranted and untrue fallacies. It should be known that the family did its best as a family to stop recent happenings, we held meeting and our purpose was for peace and stability of the church.”
Reverend Ebenezer Oshoffa said the family did not support Olatosho leadership bid, adding: “Our loyalty remains with Rev. Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa.
“Our dream of a unified CCC, the heritage of our late father, Rev. Samuel Bilehou Joseph Oshoffa, who is to us a hero supersedes any other ambition of any individual.”
