Untapped huge money discovered in Nigeria

“Utilizing the tourism opportunity in the local communities will fetch government huge revenue.“ The traditional ruler of Ilara in Epe, Lagos State, Oba Akeem Adesanya, on Wednesday said that over 80 per cent of Nigeria’s tourists sites were untapped. Adesanya told newsmen in Lagos that Nigeria had over a thousand of such sites that needed to be properly harnessed to generate patronage.

He mentioned some of the untapped sites to include beaches, wild life parks, monuments, event centres, galleries, festivals, museums, airports among others. “All these tourism potential can contribute 30 per cent to the nation’s economy, if well harnessed and properly funded.
“Visitors and tourists do visit the country day by day to see if there is a new thing, new place and a development in the tourism industry. “Adequate funding would facilitate foreign exchange earnings, “ the monarch said. He noted that Eredo, Epe local government area has vast land for government to build a mini zoo, relaxation centre and parks.

Adesanya, therefore, urged the Lagos and Federal Governments to provide incentives that would attract private investors to exploit the country’s enormous tourism potentials.
“With the involvement and support of private investors, stakeholders and Non-government Organization, Nigeria’s tourism would grow and the country would be a preferred tourism destination in the world. “There are lots of tourism potentials in rural areas and within communities that government can utilize.
