Davido Billed To Release Two Albums With Sony Music

Davido’s deal with Sony Music will have the singer release two albums.
It could be recalled the singer in January, penned a deal with Sony Music.
Details of the deal were later released, with Sony Music Entertainment releasing a detailed press statement on the nature of the deal. Davido’s deal leans towards music publishing and distribution, with the singer set to drop his sophomore studio album this year.
New details of the deal have emerged, with reports stating that the deal requires Davido to release two albums to be distributed globally by Sony. The duration of the deal, although unclear, will span more than a year. Davido however retains the right to his music and performances, while Sony will be publishing and distributing to the international market.
The deal was made possible by Efe Ogbeni, an executive with Sony/ATV who is also going to be the Executive producer for Davido’s upcoming album.
Reports also reveal that prior to signing the deal, Davido consulted with renowned entertainment lawyer, Joel Katz, seeking advice and legal counsel. Joel Katz has in the past represented top global celebrities including James Brown, Ludacris, Justin Timberlake and brands like the Grammys, while he is also responsible for Michael Jackson‘s estate.
Among the songs to be released off the forthcoming album, Davido has also planned a collaboration with U.S rapper Young Thug, announcing this via a video posted on Twitter. The video shows Davido and Young Thug on a phone conversation about the collaboration.
This collaboration will be the the third U.S input on his forthcoming ”Baddest” album after Davido earlier recorded with Trey Songz and Meek Mill. The single with Meek Mill ‘Fans Mi’ was released in 2015.
