APC Members Defect To PDP – The Chairman of the Jigawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Salisu Mahmooda Kuit, yesterday, has announced the defection of about 2,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to his party.
Kuit made the disclosure during a visit to the state by a national chairmanship aspirant of the PDP, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, saying that the new members had never been members of the PDP.
He said that the defectors were members of the ruling APC that defeated the PDP in 2015 governorship election in the state.
He alleged that some of the defectors left the APC in protest because they were promised employment during electioneering campaign, only to be “thrown away after winning election in 2015.”
In his speech, Dokpesi said that he joined the PDP chairmanship race in order to challenge the change that brought the APC government into power.
